The witness treeIt is cold, the heart
like I am, it sits
chill and sickly still,
and what if I'm really floating,
floating down the river.

All that was said
was kissed to the air, sweet
everywhere, the faceless there,
and what if I pale my way in the deep,
deep down on the riverbed.

The only witness
leans off the bank, all the time
in the world to think,
and what if the truth never blooms,
blooms and bulbs down the line.

I hurtle through scattershot stars
secret unseen in a liquid night
silent and eternal cold
across seven centuries
my heart resounds in yours
silver-tipped fingers
like ten blind eyes
splay and seek
that core of warm
never found
past Mercury, past Mars
my orbit echoes yours
We never meet
but I return
again and again

unfolded letter having something to do with shame

hello again.

i was here, just now, and i thought of waiting.
but you won't come.
and even as i say these words, i know they must remain unborn
like busy blood the coffers keep.

these sounds are ways i cannot be, i don't believe,
i'm not alive.
but i'll arrange them, anyway, one by one
to be eaten by your oval minion
or blindly forwarded like propaganda.

i am always without you and without myself.
i offer this ambassador, but he only sees the stain of things
and not even this; just their emblems, their saltless confederacy
of coincidence.

i've wondered if you're searching nights
for dark clad summoners, or silhouettes &#

waiting for the thaw,
the salmon and the sea.

All memories carried by wolves
to their starving cubs.
Open skull for the rainfall
and the birds.
The landscape of skin
imprinted on the ground.
A fading map
with footstep borders
disappearing fast
in the tide of time.

I like this - the images, the flow.
I know making a verb of "suicide" was deliberate but I wonder - if "suiciding" were "suicides" - how would that be? Might be a better aural rhythm.

P.S. Unverbing the noun would change the meaining. I'd rather swap verbs, though I'm not really leaning that way either -- at least, right now.
